Low-Cost Neutering Scheme Full Information
Doing the very best for your cats, at a price you can afford
Here's how it works:
Eligibility
- The scheme is open to any people on LOW INCOMES.
- The scheme is NOT available to breeders or other rescues, as it is to help those individuals who are struggling the most.
- You must live in Teesside or nearby (Darlington, North Yorkshire etc.) and provide proof of address and income
- You can apply for more than one cat to be neutered; please supply full details of each cat
- Appointments are available at our vets in either Darlington or West Auckland.
IMPORTANT - How does it work?
- Once we have received your form and confirmed your details, we will contact you for payment.
- When payment has been received, you will receive a neutering voucher and your details will be sent to our vet practice.
- They will contact you to offer a neutering date. Due to the high demand on this service, the appointment offered may be up to four weeks from issuing the voucher.
- Please DO NOT contact the vet practice to book your appointment; they will contact you.
Any such calls will waste both their time and yours, as appointments cannot be made in this way and vouchers cannot be issued outside of our scheme.
Your Appointment
- You are responsible for taking your cat(s) to the vet practice, either in Darlington or West Auckland
- If you are UNABLE to take them, we may be able to offer a transport service. This starts at £10 and requires you to bring your cat(s) to us the evening before (in Yarm) and collect them from us after their neuter appointment.
- If appointments are missed or cancelled without sufficient notice (3 working days), for ANY reason, then the voucher is forfeited and cannot be refunded.
- There are no exceptions to this, as the appointment is wasted and could have been used to neuter a different cat.
- This includes cases where the cat has escaped; keep them in a secure room if you have any concerns about them going missing.
These conditions are present to make sure no vouchers are wasted!
Costs
Males - £40
Females - £55
Microchipping - £10
All cats will be scanned for a microchip.
Microchipping is a LEGAL REQUIREMENT.
If your cat is not microchipped, it will be carried out during the neuter appointment, incurring a £10 charge which you must pay before taking your cat home, unless you have already paid for this service when booking your voucher.
Payment MUST be made before any vouchers can be issued.

Please note: These prices cover the neuter and a small amount that will be allocated to a specific fund toward neutering stray cats.
Our volunteer team receive no benefit of any kind for carrying out this service.
Low-Cost Microchip Service
It's never too late - until they're gone...
This scheme is open to ALL individual cat owners, no matter what your financial situation
It is NOT available to breeders, as their purposes are at odds with the aims & objectives of our charity. We will not microchip litters, in order to avoid this situation.
How does it work?
- Your cat will be microchipped by our qualified team
- We will register the cat to your details, on an approved DEFRA database while you wait
Costs
- If you bring the cat to us in Yarm / Eaglescliffe, then all you pay is £10 per cat / kitten
There are no hidden:
X Database fees
X Subscription fees
X Registration fees
If you would like us to come to you, this may be possible (depending on area) for two or more cats. There is a small additional charge for this service, to cover time & travel.
Booking
Payment MUST be made when your appointment has been arranged. Without payment, we cannot book your appointment. This can be done through Bank Transfer or PayPal.
We require a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel or change your appointment.
If you are more than 30 minutes late without our agreement, or not present when we visit, your appointment will be cancelled and the fee paid will be forfeited and used to microchip a rescue cat.
This includes cases where the cat has escaped; keep them in a secure room if you have any concerns about them going missing.
There are no exceptions to this.

We will register the cat/kitten to the details you provide, unless otherwise instructed
(Please note: proof of name and address will be required, such as a recent utility bill)
Requirements:
The cat / kitten must be:
- In good health, with no skin conditions or symptoms of illness
- Over 1kg
- Legally owned by yourself (please note: microchipping does NOT establish legal ownership)
- Not have any illness that you are aware of and have not disclosed
- Brought to us in a secure cat carrier (cardboard boxes etc. are NOT acceptable)
